All the very latest Chelsea news, views and transfer rumours from football.london as the Blues continue to make their way through this summer’s transfer window in the search of new signings.
Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Tuesday, July 6.
Pre-season preparations begin
Although Chelsea still have several players away on international duty at the European Championship and Thiago Silva still with the Brazil squad at the Copa America, some will begin to make their return to the club’s Cobham training base this week to begin their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
After winning the UEFA Champions League at the end of May, there is an expectancy for the Blues to make even further progress in the forthcoming campaign by competing for the Premier League title.
For head coach Thomas Tuchel, these next few weeks will be key to him and his plans for getting his squad in the best possible shape for the forthcoming season.
As well as this period being crucial for players regaining their fitness, this period of time will also supply Tuchel with the chance to asses the young players within his squad, put any plans in place for any players that may be sent out on loan and allow him to bed in any new signings, although the club are yet to make any as of yet.
Dortmund stand firm on Haaland
Chelsea’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is continuing to dominate the transfer talk and speculation when it comes to addressing potential new arrivals at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are desperate to lay their hands on a new striker this summer and they believe that Haaland is the man that can make all the difference for them at the top end of the pitch.
However, any deal for the Norway international is not going to come cheaply, so much so that Chelsea will be looking at well over £100million to stand any chance of luring him to west London.
In fact, it is reported that Dortmund are now not prepared to accept anything less than £138m to sell the Leeds-born striker.
